Weft Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 26, 2026

Weft is developed and provided by Lindley Cannon (referred to as "we" in this policy). Weft is designed to be private by default. Your information about the people in your life stays on your device and in your own iCloud account. We do not collect it, we cannot read it, and we never sell or share it.

What Weft stores, and where

Everything you add to Weft — the people you track, your notes, interaction history, tags, reminder settings, and important dates — is stored locally on your device. If you use iCloud, this data also syncs through Apple's iCloud service using CloudKit's private database, which keeps it in your own iCloud account. Because it uses your private iCloud database, this data is not accessible to us, the developer. We operate no server that holds or receives your data.

What we collect

Nothing. Weft contains no analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers, and no usage-tracking software. We do not create an account for you, and there is no login. We have no way to see who you are or what you store in the app.

One exception outside our control: if you have opted in to sharing diagnostics with app developers in your iOS settings, Apple may provide us with anonymized crash reports and aggregated statistics. This data comes from Apple, is governed by your own iOS sharing settings, and never includes the content you store in Weft.

Contacts access

If you choose to add someone from your device's Contacts, Weft requests permission to access your contacts solely to let you pick a person to add. Your contacts are read on your device to populate that list — they are never uploaded to us or to any third party. When you select a contact, the details you choose to add (such as their name, phone number, or email) become part of your Weft data and are stored the same way as everything else: on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your private iCloud database. You can use Weft without granting Contacts access by adding people manually.

Face ID / Touch ID

If you enable the optional app lock, Weft uses Apple's on-device authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode) to unlock the app. This is handled entirely by iOS. Weft never sees or stores your biometric data.

Purchases

Weft offers optional paid upgrades (Weft Plus) through Apple's App Store. All payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details, card information, or Apple ID. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, share, or transfer your data to anyone. There is no data for us to share, because we never receive it in the first place.

Children's privacy

Weft is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Data deletion

Because your data lives on your device and in your iCloud account, you are always in control of it. You can delete any person, note, or all of your data at any time within the app, and you can remove the app entirely to clear its local data. Note that deleting the app does not automatically delete data already synced to your iCloud account — to remove it completely, delete your data within the app before uninstalling, or manage Weft's iCloud data through your device's iCloud settings (Settings > your name > iCloud > Manage Account Storage).

Your privacy rights

Privacy laws such as the EU's GDPR and California's CCPA give you rights over personal data that companies hold about you — including the right to access, correct, or delete it. Because we do not collect or hold any of your personal data, there is nothing for us to produce, correct, or erase on your behalf: you exercise these rights directly, through the app and your own device and iCloud account, at any time. We likewise have nothing to sell or share, so no "do not sell or share" request is needed. If you have questions about your rights, contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Because the app's privacy-first design is core to Weft, we do not anticipate changes that would reduce your privacy.
